Our 3 and 4 year olds are technically too young for a bunk bed, but the shelf under the stairs is perfect for them to use as a bedside table. Despite this, they love the new beds. The instructions are a little confusing, so your husband may not have needed them. Alternatively, he may have been able to build the project without them.
